The International Peace Star

Our vision of the Peace Star is a satellite, an inflatable 140 foot diameter Mylar sphere. Its reflective surface will sparkle brilliantly at night, visible and distinguishable worldwide. It will become a new internationally recognized symbol of peace.

Surrounding the development and launch of the Peace Star, we will have a unique opportunity to encourage people to look into the sky and reflect on the miracle we all share.

Dr. Donald Geister from the University of Michigan Department of Aerospace Engineering has completed a directed study project for the design and feasibility of the Peace Star.

Initial research revealed a 60's era NASA project for a fully developed, inflatable satellite structure. The work completed for this declassified NASA project will drastically reduce the time and expense needed to design, develop, and launch our Peace Star.

International Peace Star Plan Update
Work is continuing on the Peace Star project and progress is being made. The following information is a chronicle of developments. — Jon Maxey

Richard Wagoner Jr.
I met with Mr. Richard Wagoner Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of General Motors Corporation, which has supported several of my prior charitable initiatives. After reviewing the Peace Star project with him, he commented, "This is a big idea."

I agreed, and explained that I believed I had a good chance to make Peace Star a reality. Mr. Wagoner understands what I am trying to do with this project. This is a man I greatly admire. I came away from this meeting encouraged and even more determined to make this dream a reality.

I asked Mr.Wagoner if General Motors public relations could help me "get the word out," about the Peace Star Project. A few days later, I received calls from General Motors public relations in Detroit and Washington D.C. offering to help promote the Peace Star.

Senator Carl Levin
I also met with Senator Carl Levin. During our conversation, he had a few suggestions for the project. He said, "If you can secure a design and a foundation to fund construction, I will contact aerospace and defense contractors on your behalf about sponsoring the launch of the Peace Star. I will make that commitment to you."

Dr. Donald Geister
Dr. Donald Geister from the University Of Michigan Department of Aerospace Engineering has completed a directed study project for the design and feasibility of the Peace Star. Initial research has revealed a 1960's NASA project for a fully developed inflatable satellite structure. The information is comprehensive, addressing all of the necessary elements and resources needed to build and launch such a structure. The work completed for this earlier NASA project will drastically reduce the time and expense needed to make our dream a reality. Their report is complete and available upon request.

All expenses to date have either been donated or paid personally. As we progress to the next phase of this project I expect expenses to increase substantially. My next goal is to interest a person, group or foundation to provide "seed capital" to continue the pursuit of this dream. I will find a way! — Jon Maxey
